The final of the European 3D Printing Challenge of Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) took place on 27.10.2023. The evening was hosted by Dr. Fang Li from HNU and Dr. Sascha Schwarz from Venture Lab Additive Manufacturing. Christina Kwade sat on the jury for TUM.Additive. A total of six teams made it to the finals and presented their ideas. 3rd place went to Marco Ederer with his 3D-printed motorcycle sidecar. 2nd place went to Malte Zachow from Team StampForge with his webshop concept for customizable 3D-printed stamps that can then be used to decorate food or soaps. 1st place was taken by Airgae from TUM. Members are Kaung Myat, Olesia Omelko and Andrea Vazquez Perez, who together want to revolutionize the seafood industry. Using a 3D-printed bioreactor, they produce algae that not only has a negative carbon footprint, but overall incorporates circular economy principles by using nutrient-rich aquaculture waste as a natural fertilizer. With this concept, they also won over viewers from Ampro 3D's livestream and swept the viewer award.
