Advanced Manufacturing Technology Conference 2022
In keeping with tradition, the first day of the already fifth AMTC was dedicated to start-ups. Dr. Miriam Haerst (Kumovis), Dr. Oliver Trinchera (Kinexon), and James DeMuth (Seurat Technologies) have each successfully turned their ideas into reality, and begun the conference by sharing their challenges and breakthroughs of starting a business. Connecting was not only the goal of the conference but also an important step in the journey to startup success. Haerst emphasizes that conferences are an important way to engage potential partners, get valuable feedback, and input. DeMuth also emphasizes how important visibility is for startups. "To take things to a new level, one must invest in storytelling." In his speech at the start of the second day of the conference, Prof. Hofmann, president of TUM, also highlights the importance of bringing together existing competencies, of forming a synergy. "No one can do it alone, we need openness" is how Dr. Koerte from Siemens AG describes it. This is exactly the kind of cooperation that the Bavarian AM Cluster, which was officially founded at the conference, wants to facilitate. In the future, the companies AUDI AG, EOS, GE Additive, Linde, MTU Aero Engines, Oerlikon, and Siemens, as well as TUM, will conduct joint research and development projects. TUM.Additive is based on the same idea and concept. Researchers at TUM should be able to exchange ideas, network and conduct research together - TUM.Additive provides the platform for this. In the context of the AMTC, this initiative was present with an information booth. For the next step - founding a business after the doctorate - the TUM Venture Lab Additive Manufacturing is responsible and provides advice and support.
