International Exchange: Finnish Delegation from Häme visits CirculaTUM

Insights from Research:
The event kicked off with technical insights from the network: Chris Schönherr (Chair of International Relations) discussed the role of municipalities in fostering circularity, specifically regarding the recovery of critical raw materials. Dr. Daphne Keilmann-Gondhalekar (Chair of Urban Water Systems Engineering) then introduced the "WEFE Nexus" (Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems) and explained the advantages of taking a holistic perspective on our resource systems.
Regional Implementation and Innovation:
To bridge the gap to local practice in Munich, Dr. Ursula Triebswetter introduced the Zero Waste Innovation Hub, which promotes local networking to prevent waste. The transition from research to market was highlighted by a pitch from the start-up tozero, presented by Lukas Kottmeyer, focusing on innovative solutions for battery recycling.
The visit from the Finnish mayors underlines a shared commitment to a sustainable "Clean Transition". The morning concluded with a joint lunch, providing a perfect opportunity to deepen the discussions in a more informal setting.
We would like to thank everyone involved for the inspiring dialogue and look forward to future collaborations.
